What’s the Nightlife in Malta Like?

Activities | 0 min read |

From laid-back bars to dancing marathons, the Malta nightlife scene is thriving!

If you were wondering what to do at night time during your holiday in Malta, then you’ve come to the right place. This little Mediterranean Island is known for its party scene and its Malta nightlife, with lots of international and local DJs, musicians and party-starters taking over the entertainment scene with festivals and events. But, if you’re quite in the mood for a hard-core party, you might want to take a look at the charming bars and pubs in some of the more laidback areas of the island.

Here are the top destinations for the best Malta nightlife:

Bugibba, Qawra and St. Paul’s Bay

The seaside promenade of Qawra is home to numerous restaurants and bars that are the perfect place to enjoy a few beers with friends and family. You could start the night with some cocktails and nibbles at the Cheeky Monkey Gastropub, then continue on towards the Bugibba Main Square. Both the towns of Bugibba and Qawra are popular among tourists and locals, and you’ll find several pubs, clubs and a casino here.

Café del Mar

Ever since it opened its doors, Café del Mar has been considered one of the most popular, and largest, beach clubs in Malta. However, it’s more than just a precious addition to the nightlife scene in the north of Malta. Café del Mar is a vibrant place to swim, dine and drink during the daytime, before the evening sets in. Watch the magnificent sun set over St Paul’s Island from the infinity pool, then immerse yourself in the music as the party takes over!

Gianpula and Uno Village

Two of the best clubbing destinations are Gianpula and Numero Uno, located on the outskirts of the northern town of Rabat. As the largest clubbing complex on the islands with 10 different areas, Gianpula hosts many partying events throughout the year and is always packed on the weekends! Uno Malta, located at the Ta’Qali Crafts Village, is home to the largest dancefloor in Malta. The open-air club is decorated with trees, huts, stairways and themed areas – making it the place to be if you want to dance the night away.

Paceville, St. Julian’s

A town dedicated almost solely to partying – Paceville is filled with bars, clubs, discos, casinos, gentlemen’s clubs, cinemas and more. You can find clubs playing all kinds of genres, form the latest hits to old-time classics, salsa to hard rock, as well as house and techno. While clubs open their doors at around 9.30pm, they won’t fill up before 11pm. So grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants in the area, and get ready for a night full of dancing and having fun with friends, both old and new!

Valletta

If you’re after a more laidback evening to Malta nightlife, head to the charming capital city of Valletta. Although it’s full of bars and restaurants, the crowd tends to be calmer than in the other areas. You’ll find people enjoying a glass of wine along the cobblestones streets, mingling at one of the bars on the infamous Strait Street, or listening to jazz music on the steps outside Bridge Bar.
